In the last two years, the UK music industry has agreed codes on metadata and transparency with the aim of addressing some of the key issues with music streaming.
The Council Of Music Makers – which brings together the Ivors Academy, FAC, MMF, MPG and the MU – is creating resources to help music-makers and their managers put these codes into action, with the aim of ensuring that everyone involved in making music is properly credited, efficiently and accurately paid, and able to fully understand how streams of their work generate income.
In February 2025, CMM presented the Help Us Fix Streaming Webinar, running through what metadata music-makers and managers should be gathering for every release, and suggesting questions music-makers and managers might want to ask their business partners under the transparency code.

HOW TO ACCESS THE WEBINAR
1. Go to councilmusicmakers.org/podia
2. Click on GET NOW.
3. If you have used the CMU Learning Platform before, login using your email and password.
4. If you have not used the platform before…
• Tell us your email address.
• Click CONTINUE.
• Tell us your name and pick a password.
• Click the consent button and then click CREATE ACCOUNT.
• Accept the terms and click GET NOW.
5. Click VIEW PRODUCT and you will have access to the webinar
6. Once you are set up, you can re-access the webinar at anytime by revisiting councilmusicmakers.org/podia and logging in.
