It is a positive development that licensing deals are now being agreed, however it is vital that record labels, music distributors and music publishers fulfil their legal and moral obligations to secure music-maker consent, and to ensure that music-makers have full control and are fairly compensated.
I look forward to hearing about any AI licensing deals you have negotiated, and how music-makers can opt into and benefit from those deals. To decide whether to participate, I will need to know how each platform will operate, how my music and rights will be exploited, and how I will be compensated.
For the avoidance of doubt, I do not consent on a general basis for any of my music to be used to train any AI models under any licence you issue, nor for my music, lyrics, voice, likeness or name to be used by any AI platforms.
However, I am happy to consider each individual AI opportunity providing you are able to share the necessary information for me to assess whether or not I want to opt-in.
Where I have that information and decide to pursue any one opportunity, we can then discuss how I might grant the necessary approvals and rights.
